Djrum - DJ-Kicks
DJ-Kicks is one of those things that can only be greater than the sum of its parts. The concept is simple, a few times a year you get a popular musician to record a DJ set. The 90th volume features the renowned downtempo artist Djrum.
The set covers a wide range of influences from those we'd probably expect, like Skee Mask, to those we probably wouldn't such as The Raincoats. It's a very avant set, but not like in-your-face, it feels natural and the mix itself is sublime, keeping very different pieces together in a coherent whole. He often reaches for help from English field recording genius Chris Watson for interstitial elements. I'd love to think some people find out about Chris Watson through this mix.
Recommended for cool Fall mornings whether running or working!
